Assessment Procedure

On-site visit of the audit will normally take one day to complete, with a summary recommendation presented to the company upon the completion of the audit, and a detailed analysis and recommendation report delivered within the following 60 days. Following are more details regarding assessment procedures:

1. Register on-line, or contact Dr. Wu, and we will contact you soon afterward to discuss your case.

2. Once we establish your eligibility and if you are chosen for an audit, we will ask you to fill in a pre-assessment form. The company needs to fill this in and send it back to us, plus detailed bills of the past twelve months, to help us carry out pre-audit analysis.

3. Normally we aim to complete the site-visit in a one-day session. Arriving early in the morning:

Morning:
Introductions - 10 minutes
Plant overview - 30 mins to tell us what you do, more about your company, products and customers, etc
Description of program - 15 minutes
Questions about program - 15 minutes
Plant Tour - 1 1/2 to 2 hours

Lunch break and discussion to identify key issues and areas – 1 ½ hour

Afternoon:
Key areas tour/study – 1 ½ hour
Team discussion – 1 hour
Summary presentation to company and discussion – 1 hour

4. We will also carry out follow-up interview(s) 6-12 months after the audit (through email/phone/visit), to learn about level of implementation and to estimate savings achieved. It is very important the company agree to participate in this activity with us.

Also, the DOE maintains a database of previous audit cases for reference purposes. Only a case summary will be made available to the public, with any reference to the company and any confidential information removed. Please see http://iac.rutgers.edu/database for previous case summaries.
